In December, the Noordeinde and Lange Voorhout transform into an atmospheric stage for Jazz en Route. Visitors are taken along unique locations where national and international soul and jazz artists perform live. Think intimate concerts in galleries, shops, and historic buildings — right in the middle of the city.
Pianist Karel Boehlee and guitarist Peter Tiehuis take the audience on a versatile musical journey where improvisation, subtlety, and craftsmanship are central. Their music moves effortlessly between lyrical jazz ballads, grooving fusion, cinematic soundscapes, and delicate classical influences.
Boehlee’s playing is melodious and harmonically rich, often with an introspective undertone, while Tiehuis ranges from gentle acoustic to powerful electric — at times whisper-soft, at others razor-sharp.
Together they create an intimate atmosphere with room for spontaneity, unexpected turns, and interaction, where humor and emotion go hand in hand. A concert with these two top musicians feels like a musical dialogue full of color and contrast, in which quiet moments and energetic outbursts alternate — always with finesse and deep musical understanding.
