After a sabbatical of two years the artist Maayke Schuitema presents her brand new artworks in a solo exhibition Sexual Context Considered at Project 2,0 / Gallery! From Sunday 22th of April you can visit the gallery to see this spectacular exhibition.
The last two years Maayke worked very hard on this, maybe her most vulnerable, series. In her new artworks the militant woman is the focus. A woman who doesn’t accept the victim role any longer, who puts her vulnerability into defensibility. The reborn woman in the artworks of Maayke stands up for her rights, both socially as sexually. This results in powerful artworks.
The new artworks are made in the familiar technique that is so specific to the artworks of Maayke, but this time in a combination of linoleum cut with very fine pencil on special paper. Maayke brought this paper especially from Japan. The woman in the new solo exhibition of Maayke Schuitema is proud to announce: I am a feminist in high heels!
